vague messages are the worst

So of course we are travelling today, and in between flights I see I missed a call from my midwife... her message? "Call me at your earliest convenience."

I am now convinced I failed the 1-hr glucose test. Why else would she call? Why didn't she just say "you failed" instead of stupid nothing.

Ugh. I am so disappointed in myself. It just brings all my IF insecurities to the surface - like even though I thought my body knew what to do, it is going to start failing...

I called her back and said that I hope she can get ahold of me before our flight at 145... and I said if she has to leave a message to please be specific as to the reason for her call....

Ugh.

  1. I don't know how many times I did that. I managed to convince myself that every voicemail from my OB foretold some sort of doom.

  2. I hate vague messages! Ugh. I failed my own hour by two points!! And then went on to pass my 3 hour. But hopefully you didn't fail and she'll get a hold of you quickly.

  3. Oy. Stupid privacy laws, she will probably be more detailed now that you gave her permission. She's probably just calling with the results, not necessarily bad results. I know it's easy to say, but try not to worry, you have enough stress and emotion right now without adding worries. *hugs* I hope it's all good news! :)

  4. Yep, privacy laws. It's very annoying and always make your heart skip a beat or two when you get a message like that. Some offices don't leave messages on voice mail, period, even with your permission. Others might but you'll probably have to sign something, giving your express permission. It's good in that you know your info can't get into the wrong hands or be heard by just anyone but playing phone tag is so NOT fun!

It doesn't necessarily mean that you failed the glucose. If you did--and especially if you were very close to the cut-off--you'll probably pass the 3 hour just fine. I know a lot of women who didn't pass the 1 hr but did the 3.

Safe travels; I'm sorry about your grandmother.

  5. I’m guessing she’s just calling with results. I was waiting forever at a doctor’s appointment when the nurse popped her head in and asked a couple questions about my level 2 ultrasound. In the next 5 minutes of waiting, I convinced myself that something was wrong (to the point of near-tears). Nope, it all turned out okay. I am praying you have the same result. Deep breaths!!

  6. Oh goodness, I know privacy laws are preventing her from actually telling you anything but still, a bit unnerving. Sorry A! Hopefully all is well!!

    Safe travels.

  7. I just did that exact same thing. I was convinced her few words indicated the worst. Turns out she was calling to tell me everything was fine. Hope the same for you. But geez, how many times do we have to say it's OK to leave a detailed message????

  8. when you are used to getting bad news from doctors or anybody regarding IF it brings out the IF insecurities right away. Thinking of you and hoping you get your answers soon. Just think if it was a true "emergency" she would have been a little more forceful than "at your convenience." hope all is well :) hang in there

  10. If you failed your glucose test, there is no hope for anyone. You are have the healthiest diet of anyone I know. I'm sure you couldn't provide any healthier environment for your baby than you have.
