Baby Things

I can hardly believe what I did yesterday afternoon- I ordered a newborn cloth diapering set. I am so excited and nearly paralyzed by reality at the same time!! Is this really happening?!?!? I hope cloth diapering is as easy as everyone I know who does it says it is. I even added three newborn all-in-one's in case Mr. A doesn't like the prefolding. But even people who prefold say it is a piece of cake. I am so excited!!

I have been trying to ease myself into all things baby because it is pretty overwhelming. I tried to start setting up an online registry the other day, and my eyes started swimming with all the options. Why do there have to be 20 different patterns of the same carseat? Do you know how much information-overload that is for a pregnant infertile?!

Not to mention while everyone else is gleefully filling up their baby's closet and nursery by now, I am still very aware at 21w5d that this baby is not HERE yet. She is well on her way, and chances are great that she will be here happy and healthy, but every time I go to order something or register for something or even look at something baby-related, I think, maybe I shouldn't get ahead of myself...

And yet this afternoon we are tentatively planning on going to look at cribs at an Amish place nearby. There is one at Babi.esRU.s that I picked out, but Mr. A *hates* putting furniture together (it seems like it always happens that we are missing one tiny screw or a side piece is all scratched to pieces or the holes don't line up or something), so he wants to see what our other options are. If we go with the Amish place, it will probably be at least twice as expensive, but I know it will be worth it- they made our kitchen table/chairs, and that set will be in our family forever....

We are so grateful for this little girl. We put her profile picture as our wallpaper on the laptop, and every time we open it, it makes us catch our breath. I always saw other people's u/s pictures of profiles and thought it was amazing to see such a view of their baby, and now I have been blessed with one of my own. There were many times when I thought for sure that it would never happen for us.

I know that feeling, it's so hard after years of IF to allow yourself to trust your hope again. I was like that with my first child, 4 years ago. I hadn't even thought about how to decorate or what I'd need... then I got put on bedrest at 6months pregnant... for the rest of the pregnancy. UGH! I didn't get to nest AT ALL. I was able to choose a couple things on line, but felt totally cheated that I didn't get to do any of the "fun things" I'd been dreaming about for so many years. I guess that's why now that, beyond all hope, I'm FINALLY pregnant again this time I'm going so overboard. I want it all done NOW, "just in case" I have bed rest again. I want to be the one to do it all!

Take it slow. Make a list of everything you'll need to buy/receive as gifts. Then take it a few things at a time so you don't feel so overwhelmed. I would open each stroller option in a seperate tab, then you can delete the options down to the few that you really want to look at and not feel so overwhelmed by the sheer volume. :) *hugs* I'm sure you'll get everything together in time and it will be perfect! And even if you're not sure about the baby being here, I am sure she will be! You're going to be an awesome mommy!

I've had my own issues with buying baby stuff. I totally feel you on that one!

I think I am trying out some cloth diapering as well. I'm using the BumGenus 4.0 Snap cloth diapers. I've heard good things. We'll see how it goes! ;) Another piece of advice I was given was to use disposible for the first 2 weeks because baby goes SO much and it gives you time to adjust before jumping into cloth diapers.

Woohooo for cloth diapers!!! I'm going that route as well. There are SOOOO many options. Are you using prefolds and covers? I am going the lazy way and I'm getting Flip diapers and Best Bottoms. I'm SUPER excited about the Best Bottom diapers. You should check them out, they are WAY easy. Snap in a liner and go. :)

Our girls were all started out with cloth since they were allergic to the fragrance in disposables and probably other stuff, too but the fragrance made them irritatted and itchy.

Now I have such a huge stash of cloth diapers, wraps, soakers (you name it, I got it! LOL) there are organic disposables that I have found that don't irritate their skin.

After a friend gave me a one for a quick, emergency diaper change, I contacted the company to have a giveaway and review. They sent me two huge packs of diapers to try and are giving away 2 cases and 2 bags of Free Bambo Nature Disposable Baby Diapers! And the great part is that I have finally found a disposable that I feel good about using that doesn't cause me problems!

It's too late for me and cloth is still great, but it's so nice to have options. I thought that maybe other moms would benefit from getting the news early.

I can totally relate, taking that leap of faith to register and finally start buying things was so scary. But once I did, it really became fun. All the choices in baby stuff is so overwhelming, post questions about what you are unsure about. I got a ton of great advice when I did so.

I bet the Amish made crib is going to be gorgeous! Post pictures!

So excited you are staring to buy baby things!! I think an Amish crib would be so amazing. Then it could also be in your family for generations. The extra money is money well spent. I can only imagine how anxiety inducing yet amazing it is to shop for YOUR baby. What an amazing journey we all get to be on. HUGS!!

I am cloth diapering my twins and love it (after using disposables on my older 2 children.) I would be happy to share what I've learned to do and not to do if you have questions along the way.

Ordering and picking up baby things for the nursery gets easier the more often you do it. You might even get to like it. I was nervous about my pregnancy until the day baby girl was born. Now I worry about her and getting her to her first birthday. Then the second birthday, the third, etc.
